Dan Shout

Kick back and enjoy the up-tempo sounds of top South African jazz musicians and tuck into delicious harvest style 'farm to table’ platters at the laid back Saturday Jazz Lunch in The Gallery at Grande Provence on Saturday, 20 May 2017.

Featuring the Dan Shout Quartet, the jazz lunch is part of Christopher Duigan’s popular Autumn Music Weekend held annually to coincide with the Franschhoek Literary Festival (19 – 21 May).

A highly respected Cape Town session saxophonist who has played and recorded with top musicians the likes of Johnny Clegg and The Blues Broers, and performed in over 30 countries including top international jazz festivals in Edinburgh, The Hague and Montreal, Dan Shout will be leading the pack on tenor sax. With Andrew Ford on piano, Sibusiso Matsimela on double bass and Kevin Gibson on drums completing the quartet, Jazz lovers can look forward to a thoroughly friendly mix of standards, original compositions and South African jazz.

Long tables laden with delicious platters of speciality dishes expertly prepared using the finest local ingredients by Grande Provence Executive Chef, Darren Badenhorst, add the culinary touch to this jazz performance. Think 24-hour cured and barrel smoked Franschhoek trout, locally made burrata salad with saffron tomato marmalade, or rare seared organic beef fillet with foraged mushroom dust and estate pickled mustard. Served platter-style, guests will have ample time to share and savour the harvest fare before the jazz kicks off in earnest.

To book for the Saturday Jazz Lunch at R660 per head including a welcome drink, email reservations@grandeprovence.co.za or call Lizelle at Tel: 021-8768600. Lunch is served at 12h30 followed by the first session performance by the jazz quartet, ending with the second session after dessert.
