Embark on a sensory food and wine journey when Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate in Franschhoek presents the first of three gourmet evenings inspired by expressions of the major wine regions of France, on Friday, 28 July 2017. Each evening will focus on a different theme to showcase the best of Grande Provence.

The Grande Provence Sensory Experience, hosted by Cellarmaster Matthew van Heerden and Executive Chef Darren Badenhorst, will be featuring the regional expression of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Loire respectively on the last Friday of July, August and September.

The series opens with The Bordeaux Expression with The Grande Provence Red, the elegant Grande Provence flagship, taking centre stage. Expect a few surprises on the wine front from van Heerden’s personal choice of Bordeaux reds. Together with Chef Darren’s Bordeaux inspired 6-course degustation menu to match a superb collection of red wines, the evening promises to be a sensory experience indeed.

Up next on Friday, 25 August is The Burgundy Expression. Representing Grande Provence will be the full-bodied estate Chardonnay with van Heerden presenting his own Pinot Noir under the Matthew van Heerden label. Once again he will have a surprise or two up his sleeve with the other wines of the evening for an unforgettable food and wine experience.

The Loire Expression is the theme of the last evening on Friday, 29 September. Two highly acclaimed Grande Provence white wines, the highly acclaimed, aromatic Chenin Blanc Amphora and The Grande Provence White, a blend of Chenin Blanc and Viognier of great complexity and finesse, will wow palates and be pitched against another of van Heerden mystery picks for the evening.

The Grande Provence Sensory Experience takes place at The Restaurant at Grande Provence. The evening starts at 19h00, with a glass of wine served in The Gallery upon arrival and ends on respective evenings with a glass of single malt, Cognac or Muscadel from the oldest vineyard on the Grande Provence Estate.

To book your seat at R695.00 per person for the 6-course degustation menu including the wines, call Tel: 021 876 8600 or e-mail restaurant@grandeprovence.co.za.
