Join Hartenberg Wine Estate this winter and raise your glasses to good food, special people and world-class wines!

As winter slowly creeps through our window panes and settles in our bones, Hartenberg Wine Estate is guaranteed to keep away the chill with heart-warming soul food, a cosy fireplace and exceptional world-class wines.

The food offering at this family run estate, situated in the heart of the Stellenbosch Winelands, is lip smacking delicious, and the passion behind the food is guaranteed to warm the heart. The estate’s ethos is firmly rooted in a belief in the development of their employees, and each plate leaving the quaint farm kitchen pays homage not only to that philosophy but also one of its owners, the late Eleanor Finalyson. Well-known for her farm-style soups, this winter visitors will get the chance to sample these. Her famous soups include the all-time-favourite Pea and smoked Ham soup, a rich and healthy Chicken soup, Potato and Leek soup (add some crispy bacon for a meaty feel), or a hearty Courgette soup. Each of the soups are served with freshly baked farm bread.
If you prefer something slightly more substantial choose from a selection of other winter inspired options guaranteed to keep away the winter chills. The Vintners Platter, perfect for sharing, includes Eleanor’s famous smoked Snoek pâté, locally sourced charcuterie and cheeses as well as crudités, pickles, olives and freshly baked breads. Back by popular demand is the Hartenberg Hamburger, which comprises a juicy homemade meat patty topped with cheddar and bacon. Served on a bun with chunky French fries, this is a meat eater’s dream. A Banting friendly option is also available. The bun and fries are replaced with a Baby Marrow fritter and seasonal side salad. The winter roasted vegetable salad, comprising a selection of roasted seasonal vegetables topped with Parmesan shavings, is the perfect vegetarian option.

Complement your meal with one of the superb wines in the Hartenberg portfolio. The estate’s robust reds, which include the award-winning The Stork Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot are the perfect partners to any winter dish. Or choose from the Eleanor Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc or Riesling if you prefer a white wine option.

For the ultimate winter dining experience pre-booking is essential. Lunch is served from Monday to Saturday, 12pm to 3pm. For reservations and more information contact the farm on 021 865 2541 or email info@hartenbergestate.com.
