Celebrate the festive season with a fine dining feast over Christmas and New Year at Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate.

One of the jewels of the Franschhoek Valley, The Restaurant at Grande Provence is preparing a lavish festive menu for lunch and dinner. To welcome in 2018 in style, a luxurious New Year’s Eve buffet will sustain you till the magic hour.

Festive menu

Starting on Christmas Eve, the festive 4-course lunch and dinner menu will be offered at The Restaurant until 26 December.

Let Grande Provence do the cooking this Christmas and treat family and friends to an exceptional fine dining experience. For starters guests can tuck into a choice of beautifully textured Angus beef carpaccio, or delicately cured Franschhoek trout. For the entrée, there’s a choice between richly flavoured prawn tortellini or masala roasted butternut risotto. Meat lovers can look forward to the hearty 14 hour slow cooked free range pork belly for the main course, while oven baked farmed cob is available as the fish option. For the ultimate festive finish, the ode to chocolate features a selection with varying degrees of cocoa content served salted, tempered, aerated and frozen with accents of wild summer berries. The dessert alternative is a tempting honey tasting plate of delicious morsels.

You will be spoilt for choice with an assortment of home baked estate breads served with lashings of flavour infused butter and delicious toppings, or the ultimate tuna tartare with harissa paste for starters. Salads include cured and fermented root vegetables, Caprese, Cajun roasted butternut, Niçoise, or the famous Grande Provence coronation chicken salad.

For mains, the live action seafood station offers a selection of fresh sustainable seafood prepared with your choice of accompaniments. Meat eaters can look forward to Karoo Lamb Rogan Josh with traditional sambals, 24 hour Angus beef cheek, and slow confit duck on the bone to go with rich lamb fat roasted hassleback potatoes and rosemary infused king oyster mushrooms.

There’s plenty on offer for vegetarians, from charred corn with red cabbage, black rice pilaf with cranberries, leeks and coconut, to sweet potato and wild pumpkin dauphinoise.

As a final indulgence to wrap up the year, the estate ice cream polar station will satisfy all your sweet cravings. Other desserts on offer include festive popcorn infused double cream mousse with lightly salted caramel or try the lemon Key lime curd pie with hazelnut meringue. If you prefer ending your food extravaganza on a more savoury note, the cheese trolley will be stacked high with French and local artisanal cheeses. The petit four selection served with coffee is pure delight with truffles of Grande Provence Shiraz, red velvet and rose, hazelnut crusted chocolate nougat, strawberries and cream tartlets, and white chocolate ganache spheres.

The cost of the Festive lunch is R1 195 per person, whilst dinner, with a few additional festive surprises, is R1 650 per person. Both meals include a gift and a glass of Grande Provence wine on arrival. A choir will set the Christmas tone over lunch on the 25th and 26th, whist an accordionist will play Christmas classics during dinner.

The New Year’s Eve luxury buffet is served at R2 250 per person and includes a complimentary glass of Grande Provence Brut served with West Coast oysters on arrival.
