I have conquered Klapmutskop (525m) on the Delvera Vineyard Trail yesterday and it was just the most exhilarating and amazing experience!

The Delvera Vineyard Trail is 9.75km long and takes roughly 2.5 hours to complete. The hike summits Klapmutskop at 523m and offers panoramic views of the Winelands and Cape Town.

The Delvera Vineyard Trail takes hikers into a registered conservancy. All trails start from the Dirtopia Trail Centre and permits are R40 for adults (incl. free cup of coffee from Dirtopia Cafe) and R20 for kids (under 10) per day. 25% of permit sales in aid of the Greater Simonsberg Conservancy. The hiking trail is open daily from 8am-5pm although an honesty box is available for access outside of these hours. Please see their events calendar and info on the Full Moon & Sunset Hikes.

The 6km Vineyard Walk remains in the vineyards and take 1.5 hours to complete. You'll enjoy beautiful views of the Winelands and get a closer look at the various red and white wine cultivars. Interpretive signage will help you distinguish between Merlot, Pinotage and Sauvignon Blanc!

For bird enthuasiasts the 1.25km Bird Walk is a must. The Delvera dam hosts a wide range of ducks, geese, weavers, pheasants and many more.

Unfortunately the view towards Table Mountain was a bit smoggy, but there you have it in the distance. Elsenburg agricultural college is on the left.
This PIC was taken in March when I did not make it to the top of Klapmutskop. Yesterday I conquered it!
